Past Making Projects
See below for a selection of our completed past projects and commissions. Please get in touch using the form below if you’re inspired to work with us on your own project! Most of our projects have been in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, but we may be able to travel further afield for the right assignment.
Services to the LGBT+ Community Awards, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK
Our brief was to create a series of awards that represented the pink triangle in order to reclaim it from its previous WW2 imagery. We chose a gorgeous piece of reclaimed oak - originally part of a discarded pew - and painted the edges bubblegum pink. The bottom edge was chamfered and the triangles lean back in order to give a splash of pink on all sides. Finished size c.8” tall.
Peace Pole, Great Hucklow Unitarian Chapel, Derbyshire, UK
The Unitarian Chapel at Great Hucklow, Derbyshire commissioned us to paint an 8’ wooden pole for their chapel yard as a Peace Pole. It was sanded and shaped collectively by the congregation and then we painted it and hand lettered it with the words May Peace on Earth Prevail 2022. The coloured ribbons represent the various colours of mourning used across the globe. The pole was inaugurated in April 2023 at a simple and moving outdoor service, with a written endorsement from the Ukrainian Ambassador. It was a beautiful occasion and one we were very pleased to be part of. Please click on the photo for further pictures.
Memorial Boards, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK
We were commissioned to create a large (1m square) board to act as a home for brass memorial plaques to local dogs. The board is fully framed and painted and bears oak strips with engraved lettering - In loving gratitude for our furry friends/Dog Friendly Chesterfield. We’re looking forward to seeing it fill up with tributes to beloved canine pets.
Since this one was completed, we’ve also made a series of smaller, interior boards for cafés and venues in the area, using sapele for the engraved strips.
