Foxy the Cordyroy Jellycat Fox
I was tasked by Scarlett to look after her beloved Foxy. He needed some attention to his nose, ears and neck and a good bath! His neck had been resewn up several times in the past and his arms were also working their way loose. His ears were becoming unstitched and raggy, and the plush on his nose was all worn away.
I started off by unstitching most of the later thread and removing all of his stuffing so that he could have a good soak to get rid of the build up of dirt, especially on his white sections. As he is a Cordyroy the fabric has a textured pile and this particularly holds on to fluff and dust, so this was got out whilst he soaked, using a soft toothbrush.
Once he was dry I started with his arms and resecured them from the inside. I then re-covered his nose with black plush - this made a huge impact to restoring his proper appearance - and then re-seamed his ears so that they were safe and tidy again.
Lastly, I took out the original and flimsy tape which was there to reinforce the neck and replaced it with a more robust herringbone tape. This will give more support to what was evidently a weak area. I then restuffed Foxy to his appropriate fullness and restitched his neck shut.
He looks much brighter and will hopefully last for many more adventures with Scarlett!
